Quarterly Update - April 7, 2010

Ok... I confess... it's been 4 months since the last update, so I can't really call this a quarterly update.  But I'm going to anyway because I can.

So what's been up this past quarter (and 1 month)?  Let's see...

- Trips, trips, and more trips.  The Montreal snowboarding outing in January was a success.  It was great to see Mendes and his new house. The hills in QC are way better than Ontario. In Feb, I was part of a convoy to Pittsburgh to watch Joel play against the Penguins.  That was fun and the outlet shopping was good, even though I only picked up 3 items.  Mid-March was Vegas trip #11 since 2003... first time ever that I was down there for March Madness and let me tell you this... I'm already planning to go down next year around the same time.  The weather was awesome and so was the, well, just about everything else.  It took me a full week to recover from this "vacation".  This past weekend, I went to the Windsor/Detroit area since Joel was playing against the Wings and Caesars was offering a free room.  So 4 trips in 4 months... and I'm already booked for another Montreal outing in May... good times.

- Audit over. YEA!!! Now it will take me about 3 months to get caught back up to speed.

- This weekend is a big one for my hockey teams. Tomorrow is the semi-finals for floor hockey (go yetties!) and Sunday is the finals for ice hockey (go hakka!). I really should be taking pics or getting someone to take pics.

I'm sure that there's a lot that I'm missing... I'll post when I remember.  But for sure props and slops from Vegas... I just need YDJ's help in remembering what happened on that trip...

Quarterly Update - January 15, 2010

A ladybug in January... it can't be that warm, can it? A ladybug in January... it can't be that warm, can it?

SNAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I'm waiting anxiously for a couple of dumb-dumbs (Niko and Ash) to pick me up at work so we can head down to Montreal to snowboard with Mendes.  It should be a good trip.  Hopefully this warm spell goes away.  There's nothing worse than boarding in slush.  Anyway, as I wait at my desk, I write this post... good trade-off, no?

So the holiday season was crazy and now I'm smack dab in the middle of an audit at work.  Good times.  This mini-trip will be a nice distraction.

Hockey is going well.  I somehow managed to get into 2nd place in the scoring race... I'm still well behind Niko, but I am getting better.

The condo is doing great... except for last night when the power was off the whole time.  Lucky for me, I have a terrible habit of impulse buying mini flashlights, so I survived the darkness okay.  I did a couch swap with Kras and Niko, and ended up with a really nice set up.  Pics to follow.

Quick movie reviews: Hangover, Avatar 3D, The Blind Side, The Road, (even) The Rocker & Twilight get Props for entertaining me to various degrees.  I recommend them all for viewing.

Dexter Season 4 was as great as I expected it to be.  Season 5 can't get here fast enough.

I just committed to going to Pittsburgh on Feb 13-14 to watch Wardo play against the Penguins... nice, I'll have to borrow Niko's jersey.

FGS, Niko and Ashman are 40 min late... Grrr...

Vegas - Fall 2009

Look at who we found! Look at who we found!

Props – My Blackjack and sports betting skills.  Together I was up $670 on those.

Slops – My craps and poker playing. I was down $370 on those for a total of $300 up for the trip. I have to stop playing craps, I never win.

Props – To me, for some nice outlet purchases including a new briefcase from Coach and some nice t-shirts.

Slops – Bally’s for making the $10 Blackjack tables pay out 6 to 5 for blackjacks.  That’s not fair… just makes people (like me) go next door to Paris to play at proper odds.

Props – to the Investment club for some sound advice on the sports bets. I’m starting to get the hang of the NBA betting.

Slops – to the “sharp” who was dead wrong on his lock of the century.  The poker dealers gave better advice than this so-called ace better.

From YDJ:

Props to sean for winning 2 poker tournaments $1600

Slops to sean for being down $500 the following day

Props for PF changs and the amazing food

Slops for sean ordering another plate and leaving it costing us an extra $20

Props to cheryll and her new found love for sports betting

Slops for her betting on the lock of the year bobcats -5.5 only to get hammered by detroit by 20

Props to miko and his sports betting

Slops to everyone else for not riding his coat tail

Props for the AMAZING COCKtail waitress at planet hollywood ...

Slops for us not staying there

Props to the peepshow and the nice talet on stage

Slops for us not sitting closer

Happy Hallowe'en!

Damn, I must be addicted to this game. Damn, I must be addicted to this game.

So another year, another Hallowe'en... for this year's costume, I found a pair of overalls on eBay, so I decided to be a farmer.  I already had the red plaid shirt and boots, so I was set.  Without ever realizing until today, my costume is not just an ordinary farmer, but it's my friggin' Farmville avatar.  The only thing that I'm missing is the enlarged head.

Anyway, got the annual Hallowe'en bash tonight, so I'll be sure to get lots of good pics.

Random - October 26, 2009

So after numerous attempts, I was finally able to figure out how to properly redirect www.mojomiko.com to this new site... so here you go.  It's official.  For now the written content has been posted and I will slowly be adding in the old pics... maybe.

What else is going on?  Plenty... let's go!

  • Ice hockey is fun!  Our team is average, Niko is a superstar on the ice, I can hold my own, and Asher finally came out to a game and didn't suck! That was suprising.
  • The Yetties are off to a mediocre start... 3-2-1 so far. Oh well.
  • We had a successful Thanksgiving dinner at Nick's place. It was good to get everyone in the same room for once. And I learned how to roast a turkey!
  • At work, I am finally officially the controller, and no longer pretending to be.  Things are busy, but in a good way.
  • Bought a new ottoman for the condo.  Looks good.
  • Halloween is coming up and I have my costume ready.  It took about 80 guesses for Niko to figure out what I'm going to be, so I know that it'll be unique.
  • I'm part of a betting club with Ryan, Nick and Chris in which we place bets on games that we all agree on... so far, I'm up $419 USD.  Speaking of which...
  • Booked Vegas for the 2nd week of Nov... can't wait.
I guess that's it for now.  I'll try to update more frequently and try to get more input from others.  This site is so easy to update now, that there really is no reason for me not to do so more often.

Adios.
